The Shaken And Strirred

I was surfing the net one day when I saw an interesting question asked by a man in askville. He was actually asking where to buy lanyards that have the specifications he was looking for. I immediately posted a reply to his question and hoping it will help him. He was actually looking for a special type of lanyard that isn’t usually sold in retail stores. I directed him in an online site where he could find the hard to find lanyards. Of course, I know the site because I myself have been collecting lanyards since I was in high school. I have different kinds of lanyards and they now sum up to more than a hundred pieces from different places and some I bought online. Some are old, some are new, some are colorful while others were plain. I just recently got the solid colored that holds a cellphone, I got it while I was waiting outside a concert hall in a small kiosk.

After purchasing a truck load of decorations, my wife and I still has a few weeks to set up the entire house, making it look spooky but homely for everybody. And just a couple of weeks after that would be thanksgiving and that would be a totally different decoration to make.

Right now we need to make the most out of the special occasions that come our way because we may never know until when we can spend those special occasions with our family. Life is too short, we need to make the most out of it while we can and as long as it lasts.

This year we will have a masquerade party and I learned from my children that they were all excited to attend the event most especially the youngsters. So last week my wife and I began decorating the house and got some Halloween stuff downtown. We bought some home decorations like the glazed terra cotta pumpkins, a black cat skeleton, gravely the ghatly butler, scarecrow stakes, a couple of pumpkin patch garland and wreath, harvest basket arrangement, witch silhouette, haunted houses, all hallows witch shelf sisters, wicked witch rug, jack O ‘Lantern luminaries, some dancing witches, creepy spiders, we also got a spider web table topper and underlay for our dinner table, we also included the flying witch light string on the foyer, witch in moon and crows on pumpkins, and of course the trick or treat pumpkins for our grand children.

Halloween is just around the corner and each year our house has been the venue of merry making and Halloween party. My wife and I need to prepare the house for the coming of our six children and 14 grand children together with our two great grand children. All our children have families of their own but each year we got to see one another whenever there is an occasion whether it be thanksgiving, Christmas, New year’s eve, birthdays and anniversaries. And just a few weeks from now if the most anticipated Halloween party. And my wife and I will be very busy for the next couple of weeks.

“There’s nothing like a good family when you’re really up on a tree” This is a saying I will always put in mind wherever life leads me for me to be guided on remembering where I came from and to inspire me on where I’d be heading. It will always remind me to keep my feet on the ground no matter how high my aspirations are and how successful my endeavors would be. After all, the law of gravity still exists, what goes up must come down. I’d just let my dreams sore but I’d make sure to stand still on a solid ground to keep me from stumbling afterwards. The best way to do this is to make the pact stronger for our own good family.

The very challenging role in life is doing what other people say you can’t do, and obstacle are what you take your eyes off the goal. Every moment holds thousands of possibilities but we can choose only single one of these; all the others we have condemned , damned to non-being and that to, for all eternity. But it is glorious to know that the future of the things and the people around us is independent-even if only to a tiny extent- upon our decision at any given time.
